Here are the steps required to renew a teaching license in Mississippi. If you need to see a tutorial with photos, please click here.
Create an ELMS accountIf you are have not already created an ELMS (Educator Licensure Management System) account on the MDE website: 1. Go to the ELMS login. 2. Click "Create a New User Account" at the top right corner of the screen. 3. Set up your account by following the directions. YOU WILL BE THE ONLY PERSON WITH ACCESS TO YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD! | Add CEUs1. Go to the ELMS login. 2. Enter your User Name and Password. 3. Click "Login To System". 4. Click "Educator" directly below the Educator Licensure Management System. 5. Click "Professional Development". 7. Underneath the CEUs section, click "Add CEU". 8. Enter your information, then click "Submit". 9. All original documents to be used as part of the licensure application review process must be scanned, and then uploaded to your ELMS account as a Portable Document File (PDF). Uploaded images, screenshots, and photographs of documents will not be accepted. 9. Your information should automatically show up in your list of CEUs, and the total number of hours completed should update in the top section of the page. |
Renew Your License
Once you have completed the required number of CEUs/Coursework/National Board process and you are ready to renew your license:
1. Go to the ELMS login.
2. Enter your User Name and Password.
3. Click "Login To System".
4.Click “Educator” directly below the Licensure Management System.

4.Click “Educator” directly below the Licensure Management System.
5. At the top left of the page, click "Professional Development".
6. Under Professional Development and License Renewal, click "Submit a Renewal Application". This tab will be highlighted only if you meet the requirements to renew.
• Class A: 10 CEU’s, 6 hours of coursework, 5 CEU’s and 3 hours of coursework, or Completion of the National Board process
• Class AA - AAAA: 5 CEU’s, 3 hours of coursework, or Completion of the National Board process
• Career Level Administrator: 70 SEMI’s, 6 hours of coursework, 35 SEMI’s and 3 hours of coursework, Completion of a specialist or doctoral degree in educational administration/leadership, or Completion of the National Board process
7. Complete the application.
8. The license will automatically be renewed and can be viewed from ELMS. You can also print the certificate from the site.
